Graduate Guide: Advice to sink in slowly

Mark Sinclair

University College Falmouth and friends offer up some more pithy pearls of wisdom

Advice to Sink in Slowly is an ongoing series of post-cards and posters designed by University College Falmouth graduates and guest artists. The idea is that the 24 designs will help to pass on advice and inspiration to first year students (an advice poster is given out to each new student at participating universities), but the set has proved to be equally as relevant for those leaving college too.

The advice for 2009 ranges from the ecological (‘get a bike’) to the professional (‘think of your own ideas’) and, as project founder John Stanbury explains, while advice is subjective, “by passing it on in a creative way, it is possible to create something that lasts, that people will want to live with. So the advice needn’t be relevant straight away, but can sink in slowly and help out later on.” Copies of the postcard pack and posters are available from advicetosinkinslowly.bigcartel.com while advicetosinkin slowly.net launches soon.
