The Annual: Design studio of the year: No overall winner
Creative Review
This was a year in which a lot of design studios had one or two standout projects but no one clear candidate emerged for our Design Studio of the Year.

The painstaking process of creating the Comedy Carpet
Honourable mentions should certainly go to Hat-Trick and The Chase, both of whom have two projects selected for The Annual and who produced a string of other solid projects last year. Equally, Why Not Associates who, with Gordon Young, created probably the most ambitious and striking piece of work of 2012 in the Comedy Carpet, one of our Best in Book winners. But no single studio stood head and shoulders above its peers. Perhaps this was down to the economy, with tighter budgets and more nervous clients reining in creativity. Even going beyond the entry list for The Annual and thinking about all the projects covered by Creative Review in 2012, no obvious standout candidate emerges. So we have decided not to award a Design Studio of the Year this time. Let's hope the coming 12 months produce an abundance of memorable work that means next year we will be spoilt for choice.
