Setting Miquel Mora's paper alarm clock
For the September issue of Creative Review we are putting together a round-up of some of the best work from this year's graduating students – trolling round the degree shows in search of those treasured projects that just make you stop and mutter a little "Oh. Wow".
A particular favourite was Flat Futures by RCA graduate Miquel Mora. “The Flat Futures project is an exploration into digital paper,” explains Mora, who originally hails from Barcelona but now lives and works in Paris. “Through printed electronics we can create processors, displays, batteries on flat and flexible surfaces like paper. Objects will wear technology instead of carrying it inside, it will become their skin.”
Shown here is Mora's paper alarm clock constructed from a flat sheet

To switch the alarm off, just scrunch it up
And here, Smart Tapes, a range of electronic components, including a computer processor and speakers, printed on adhesive tape. The tape allows us to use technology where and when we like, giving us the opportunity to enhance existing products or create new ones.

Another product idea by Mora is the Memory Envelope, an envelope that remembers its own GPS position and shows it on the map on its cover, so you can track the envelope's journey.

More of Miquel Mora's work can be found at www.miquelmora.com. Our Showcase of new graduate work will feature in the September issue of CR, out 22 August. More graduate work will also appear here on the blog.
