Ah the mix tape, how we miss you. All those Sunday afternoons spent in careful compilation. Now, thanks to design studio magneticNorth, the mix tape rides again, in full web 2.0 effect. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the MIXA.
It's a 1gB memory stick in the shape of a tape and comes with a set of stickers for customisation. Go online here and you can create your won artwork in true C90 style.

And, of course, because it's essentially just a fancy memory stick, you can add photos, text and anything else you want.
Yes, yes we know there have been plenty of "novelty" memory sticks already, but the downloadable artwork and community aspect make this one stand out.
Of course, we still like this too:
Mixa costs £19.99

Thank you for sharing this, Patrick. I have a link to share that I think you'll really love. The Designers Mixtape (http://mixtape.nitrocorpz.com) presents virtual mixtapes created by design industry professionals from around the globe... all gratis. As of this moment, 95 distinct editions stand ready for your listening pleasure. It has made my day more than once -- so knowing you're a fan of the mixtape, I hope it may also make your socks go up and down, so to speak.
Cheers! -- Roger D.

For years you've been able to buy solid state music players that not only looks like a cassette, but can me 'played' in any cassette player. They fit in normal cassette boxes as well, that anyone who was a teenager in the 80's will tell you were easy to add custom sleeves to. Can the Mixa be played in an old car stereo? Does the usb adapter fold out of the way, or just always stick out awkwardly, ruining the fun cassette look/disguise? The custom cut stickers, integration with flickr and the website as a whole are great, if only the physical product had been less limited this would have been a truly great project.
