Lahti Poster Museum 1975-1990 anniversary poster, 1990

Opening tonight at Les Silos at the Maison du livre et de l'affiche in Chaumont, France is an exhibition of posters by the Finnish graphic designer, Kari Piippo.

In a career spanning over 30 years Piippo has produced posters for theatres, cultural institutions and environmental organisations. For this show, 20 posters will be shown from the Chaumont collection alongside a series of other works recently donated by the designer.

Piippo has previously referred to his work as the "art of scarcity" and he relies on essential forms, bold colours and simple constructions to convey his messages. For more examples of his poster work, visit piippo.com/kari.

Andrio Abero makes some amazing posters, and I think you can still pick some of his earlier screenprints up for as little as $20. He recently won the W+K Seeking competition and has moved into editorial illustration so keep your eyes open he definately deserves some love, as he is a really nice guy too!
