Give KarlssonWilker a cover to design and, somehow, they will find a way to get their faces on it. Readers will remember our June cover starring the pair in full, terrifying, Karaoke flow: now they've managed to get themselves on the cover of Time, but you have to look hard to spot them

Our June cover, with rock gods Hjalti Karlsson and Jan Wilker

And here they are sneaking onto Time - just

The cover is for Time's annual round-up issue: KarlssonWilker designed both it and the coverage inside which runs from pages 47 - 60.

On the Creative Review back cover, KarlssonWilker managed to sneak in this little pornographic delight, which a few readers spotted

Rumour has it, there's something similar in this issue of Time but we haven't discovered it yet...

Time are going so far away from what they're known for, it's desperate. With a huge downsizing of their European operations, they're basically regrouping around their one NY office and hoping their Pentagram redesign will help them get through. They need to think long and hard about the purpose of a weekly news magazine and whether that purpose justifies continuing. This cover smacks of hiring that latest flash-in-the-pans, and the result being totally inappropriate for their market. Time is not New York Magazine, nor is it Blender.

This kind of recognition should not be given to this display of brainless, trite, design. I used to respect Karlssonwilker's studio, but as of late I have come to just view them as 2 guys riding off Sagmeister fame that never put in any thought to a concept or strategy of any kind in their work. It doesn't matter who designed these Time spreads, nobody will care. You look at a magazine like Wired and any non-designer will remark about its great design and extraordinary infographics. There is nothing to be proud of here Karlssonwilker, just your now even bigger egos for shamelessy putting yourself on the cover of Time. way to go.
