Set to brighten up a no doubt chilly Monday morning in London's Soho next week is a multi-coloured installation by Russian artist Andrey Bartenev, on display at the Riflemaker gallery. Bartenev's piece, which will be viewable from the street, is a brightly coloured work called Disco-nexion and is based on the glass tunnel containing 50 LED spheres (with the words "connection lost" orbiting each one) that he showed last summer, as Russia's representative at the 52nd Venice Biennale.

At Riflemaker the two word phrase has been changed to "disco" and "nexion" and the work looks likely to induce smiles and quizzical looks in equal measure, maybe even the throwing of a few involuntary kerbside shapes as well. Apparently, once installed, the work resembles a mirrored dancefloor covered in a blur of letters (hence the disco theme) and alludes to the alienation – and desire for connections – within today's virtual communities.

We'll leave it to Bartenev to describe his own unique approach. "If I weren't an artist," he says, "I would be a dancing pianist. When I'm not creating art, I enjoy swimming in the pool at night. People who know me best might describe me as a 'Russian from the moon'. They might be surprised to learn that I'm from Venus. The best advice I ever received came from Paco Rabanne, he said: 'Don't be in a rush to leave'."

Andrey Bartenev: Disco-nexion is at Riflemaker from 7 January to 11 March.

Those two friends I believe were once major "stars" of Eurotrash.

Great work as well.

Those two friends look to me like German performance artists Eva & Adele, who did indeed appear on Eurotrash on several occasions.
