Man Ray by Dan Fischer

Dan Fischer is currently exhibiting a series of his stunning drawings at Alison Jacques Gallery in London. Fischer's drawings are renditions of photographs of artists who have influenced or inspired the artist in his own work, all meticulously, lovingly recreated using mechanical pencils.

The depth of work involved is hard to imagine, and perhaps not fully evident in the images here, as Fischer works from photocopies of the photographs he chooses, giving the drawings a soft, velvety glow which is slightly lost when they are re-photographed and stuck up on the internet. This process has led to his work being described as Xerox Realism - an off-the-cuff description by Fischer himself that seems to have stuck.

Shown here are images of Frank Stella, Gillian Wearing, Francis Picabia, Man Ray and Arshile Gorky. The exhibition will continue until August 2.
