Harvey Nichols' Pun-tastic Postcards
Posted by Satara Achille, 15 April 2009, 15:29 Permalink Comments (69)
We love a good pun here at CR - so we thought we'd share some with you, courtesy of a new set of witty postcards devised for client Harvey Nichols by Ruan Milborrow and Mark Nightingale of agency Mr.H...
The postcards will go on sale in the Harvey Nichols Foodmarket later this week. “They are based on ‘Food Celebrities’ - I was [originally] going to call them Stars in Their Pies", explains Milborrow.
Featuring the likes of Cake Winslet, Banana Mouskouri, Wayne Pruney and Pea Diddy, the postcards will be sold for £4.95 a pack in both a Boys and Girls version - here are some of our favourites:

Many years ago in Italy a SuperMarket company called Esselunga did the same:

this is good stuff...im glad he changed the name otherwise id have to sue over "stars and there pies" ....a sketch i wrote when i was 12, that involved celebrities discussing making and digesting their favourite pie or tart.
i'm making a big call...
PUNS ARE THE WAY FORWARD THIS YEAR.
Also whatever the word gymnastic term for 'look around you's" thanks ants ...thants, shall also be huge.

A 12 year old could come up with this concept...when will the establishment stop complimenting the untalented?!?
2009-04-16 22:35:01
coincidentally, in Singapore, there is a bread shop in a Hawker center, named itself "Bread Pitt". it's hilarious.

Yes, Esselunga did the same years ago and continued for a long time... Complete rip off going on here. Must admit that being for supermarkets Esselunga was more aimed and consistent as a campaign than one for Harvey Nicks with Peas or brownies...

Another vote for Esselunga!
2009-04-18 06:23:43
Esselunga has had a twelve year running print campain which is absolutely identical.

Good cod, that's poor. They must have done it just for the halibut....
2009-04-18 09:12:30
Cheeky! I like this
2009-04-18 14:32:01
So what if an Italian supermarket chain did something like it. These are great and far better than the pretentious campaigns from HN's main ad agency (which isn't Mr H). In today's climate we need a laugh, or at the very least something to make us smile.

Brilliant!
In response to Stefano Moro (Esselunga has had a twelve year running print campaign which is absolutely identical) . . .
Have you opened the Esselunga link Beetoe supplied? Or is just l'orgoglio Italiano (Italian pride) talking? Nothing wrong with that as I'm Italian & proud too, but never let that cloud your judgement. The Harvey Nichols campaign is very funny, cheeky and beautifully simple. It may have been ripped off, but identical it isn't and more importantly who cares?
2009-04-22 10:04:09

I absolutely love these! This definitely takes a unique talent that Harvey Nichols has obviously mastered. By looking at his site, I would have never guessed that he'd be the creator behind postcards like this.

Keep it simply! This are funny pictures!

Skate Moss and Tuna Thurman tickled me and brought back memories of working on Hoop's punfest, Fish on Friday a few years back. I offer a best of platter of puns and I think you'll agree Kylie Minnow is still hard to beat. http://thisishoop.com/docs/fish/
