Look What Came In The Post

We're doing a story on some new Fairtrade packaging from Carter Wong in next month's issue. They sent over the images today, in this
If anyone else sends out packages addressed in a similarly beautiful way, please email me your images to patrick.burgoyne@centaur.co.uk and we'll put the best ones up here.
The envelope came at an apposite time as we have just been discussing the way in which we send the magazine out to subscribers currently. As with nearly all other magazines, we use polybags which are not particularly nice and, though recyclable, not exactly environmentally friendly. They certainly don't have the appeal of the Carter Wong envelope above.
We've searched long and hard for a better way to package the issues without incurring significant extra costs or time delays (envelopes take too long, corrugated card ditto and adds weight). If anyone knows of a better way, we'd be very happy to hear from you in the comments below.

what about a cover that wraps the whole way round that seals the magazine closed see the lovefilm envelope for ideas.

I not sure if im getting this ? Have they used and old envelope and printed over it? Or is it something else ?
Was it already ripped like that at the top ?

why not making the cover of the magazine the actual envelop?

Although quite beautiful and old school it does look a little poorly planned!

a friend of mine posts me stuff all the time in DiY envelopes made from recycled cereal boxes, magazines, newspaper, wallpaper, bags etc.
perhaps you could do something similar for CR subscribers.
It generally works, but we have had a few frames from our nasa webcomic ( http://www.skip-intro.co.uk/drawings/nasa%20menu%20page.htm ) go missing, along with some 4-track demos on audio casette. Avoid the newspaper, which tends to tear, and you should be fine.

I picked up a Howies catalogue from their Carnaby St store recently and noticed a column at the back explaining why they aren't sending their catalogues to customers in poly bags any more. It's simply because they realised they didn't need them, and they were creating waste. Very Howies. So the customer address is printed on back cover and the catalogue is sent loose. Nice idea, probably wouldn't work for CR though..
