Explosive new video from the Glue Society

If you're looking for an antidote to all the anodyne Xmas stuff about at the moment, the Glue Society's new video for the delightfully titled Bastard by Lithuanian DJ outift Metal On Metal might just be it...
According to director Matt Devine, Metal On Metal gave them total freedom to create what they wanted for the video. "The guys gave us the ultimate gift – absolute creative freedom to interpret their music," he says. "In the end what has happened is the film lifts the track and the track lifts the film – so we reckon it's been a great long-distance marriage."

Call me pedantic but I've seen enough Vietnam movies to know that if the little lever hasn't popped up the grenade isn't armed. Or are jam grenades different?

Steve's right, but it doesn't prevent this being a great bit of film.

That curiously reminds me Elektrobank (Chemical Brothers - Spike Jonze) and it was better. Well done anyway, but... is there something new ?

That's the most tense video I've ever seen

Good idea and execution, unfortunately wasted on appalling music.

Karmarama beware...

New Olympic sport in time for 2012?
I agree with Richard, the tension had me chewing through my keyboard.
Great track an' all.

Sick! Is this really entertainment for the new Millennium?

I was waiting for the miss hit when it bounces over the screen and into the crowd and blows all the suits to bits. That would have been a better twist! Never liked suites myself!
FYI: When you throw a grenade its the handle flying off that releases the detonator!
Got me to watch to the end though.

Oh, yeah - right - how very entertaining, how clever, how ironic, how very 'design'.
It's like, sooooo cutting edge, It matches my gun shaped vase and really suits my lifestyle now that I dress like a gangsta rapper even though I went to public school. That red is exactly the shade I want for the lining of my next Boateng suit
Does anyone know where I can get streaming video of suicide bombers from Kabul, you know - as a background for my dinner parties??

I was definitely rooting for the one in blue! I thought that was very cool, not for everyone though.

very slick but utterly sick
deserved a far better twist to the ending than a load of jam being hurled around

I liked it. Was intense

Gota say though that grenade thing is a rookie mistake. I mean, do the research.

did its job tho, nobody really switches off before little lady goes byebye!...

I liked it! a bit long for me i know its meant to be building up tension but i think it had done that half way through! the filming is very good, clean and well shot! I was also half expecting it to fly into the crowd i don't know which would have been better.

If we want to get really nerdy about the grenade.
Not all grenades have a fly off handle. It depends on the model and where it's from.
The MK1 U.S grenades had a lever that stayed attached and just the internal trigger
was spring loaded. Not until Mk2 grenades where the handles spring loaded. Some french, Russian and japanese grenades didn't have a fly off lever either. Some didn't even have levers. Depends if you are going for a graphic hand grenade look or 100% accuracy. Depending on the grenade they have used as a model this could be more than accurate. Don't always trust what you see in the movies.

Nice idea, great actors play but it should end up different. There is no idea behind it. There is much more to explore than just to make explosion in the end (duh, it's a grenade). It could end up in some interesting way and then it would make perfect combination of TENSE video but also with some clever graphic idea.
I like amateur-HD-slowmo' quality of the video as well as the audience play.
