She actually said "Creative Review is this... kind of... beautiful... wonky... graphic design magazine from the UK" -- I think she meant to critique the cover not the magazine!

I took it to mean wonky as in 'policy wonk' – a person (or magazine) with (overly?) specialised knowledge of a subject. So 'wonky' in this case could possibly be syonymous with 'geeky'
