wgharveynics3.jpgDDB's Harvey Nichols ads, shot by Giles Revell and starring Wallace & Gromit (which we blogged about in August last year), received the Creative Circle's Platinum award last night as well as gold awards for Best Poster, Best Portrait Poster, Best Landscape Poster and Best Poster Campaign

CR was at the Creative Circle awards last night to eat fish and chips, quaff champagne, see DDB's Wallace and Gromit starring campaign for Harvey Nichols win big, and see Dave Trott enter the Creative Circle Hall of Heroes... Here's a list of all the work that scooped gold awards:

how did a creative circle project win a creative circle award? Oink Oink Oink

Nice. Some of my favourites in there like the Hovis ad and the Kubrick season bit.

I've seen the winner for Best Viral Video on a website about ripped off ideas though.

Legit or not cool?

The Creative Circle have given themselves an award for their own advertising of the awards.

I'm not sure about that one, personally I feel that is a bit of a conflict of interests. It gives out the message that if you design the Creative Circle advertising for 2010 then you'll probably win an award.

Good choices on the others though.

I just love the Wallace & Gromit Posters. I am not sure that there's a great idea in there, but it's just genius.

Lovely Museum of Childhood image
Did Paul Pateman commission himself to do the illustration?
If so, then lucky you...
... and maybe that's where we're going wrong.

Great to see that the Skins 2 promo won an award, not so good to see the special effects wrongly credited. MPC do visual effects (post production effects), it was in fact Machine Shop who did the special effects (physical effects).

I find it strange that almost every other aspect of a commercial/promo is awarded - other than the casting. In fact casting directors are rarely even mentioned. Any idea why this may be so? I would have thought it is a very valid part of the creative process ...

@ Tree Petts
There are specific awards for casting at the British Television Advertising Craft Awards, which we cover every year in CR
