Manohar and Samir Manohar Mistry are among the leading exponents of Mumbai taxi art, adorning the city's cabs with wondrous typography. In this exclusive CR film (made for us by Grandmother India), they discuss the development of this urban art form and the design they created for CR's April issue

With thanks to Grandmother India
For more on the Mistrys and on how the CR Taxi was done, please go here or read about it in the April issue, out 25 March

Superb! Just love the way that different cultures have there own way of using the art decoration (in this case amazing type/patterns and designs) to enhance something so everyday and bland as a taxi, I love the way they love the Fiat taxi it is almost a blank canvas to them and it becomes more about the composition of the designs on the Fiat than the design of the Fiat car!

Guatemalan chicken buses also do a similar thing!

What we as Indians think cheeky/cheesy is just our creativity at its best, its we being fearless and crafty :)

I realized what moron I am now that I am away from India where I was watching Helvetica and loving the Swiss so much and all this was happening just next door . . literally!
