Armando Iannucci's In The Loop, the feature-length spin-off from his wonderful political comedy The Thick Of It, is using this rather nice Fairey-inspired teaser poster
The poster features the film's undoubted star, spin doctor and swearer par excellence Malcolm Tucker (played by Peter Capaldi). The Guardian has an exclusive clip from the film here.
In The Loop is out in the UK on 17 April

I am so sick of seeing these cheap imitation illustrations.
And for Creative Review to feature this particular post on there blog makes me question where they are getting there revenue from.

@ Christopher
Knowing the original series and the rampant cynicism represented by Tucker, we just thought it was funny. That's all. Sheesh...

Here here (hear hear) I haven't seen such replication of an image since the Frankie says Relax T-shirt!
I suppose though it marks it out as a special image his work has always been recognisable but he just hit on a very special moment in American history and it will forever be his Marilyn Munroe, a very recognisable style and colour palette... I don’t think it is going to go away any time soon, the bootleggers and fakers will have a field day with it on everything!

I think it's excellent. So much so I'd like to track one down for myself.

I remember on my Foundation course one of the posters for an Art College was just a straight rip-off of the Trainspotting poster.
Now THAT deserved as much spleen as you want to throw at it Chris.
That a comedy about politics would use a contemporaneous iconic political image is a bit of a 'well duh' moment I'm afraid pal.

I hang my head. Just shows a real lack of imagination. Just use the Fairey filter. Amazing film though.

Jeez, is it because this a supposed "Advertising, design and visual culture" website that this has generated such high-and-mighty pretentious comments from the likes of Chris and Mark?
Honestly, quick reality check if you would please:
It's the very fact that the original poster is so famous that it has spawned a good natured tongue-and-cheek parody like this...the key word been "parody", there is a big difference between that and plagiarism.
