Director Stéphanie di Giusto puts Jarvis Cocker's bendy frame to good use in this video for new single Further Complications.

I really like the awkwardness of the video, Cocker looks really uncomfortable. This set against the background gives it a great contrast.

Nice idea, execution and actor's playing could be better

I like it – but is taking the piss out off, copying or playing a homage Jonathan Glazers "Virtual Insanity"

I think the awkward moves really suit Jarvis' personality and frame. Shame the song is a bit lame though.

something a bit gervaise about this.
hes outgrown this personality, the poses are now parody.

bit like stan laurel forced to 'cry' in interviews.

anyways whats this forced idea got to do with the song?

I like some of the visuals, folding paper & awkward angles etc, but it all feels a bit too staged - I'm not convinced or engaged by the video or by Jarvis in this.
I'm too aware I'm watching him prance around in a studio.
He strikes me as someone who should have a little more edge about his work.

"anyways whats this forced idea got to do with the song?" what?!

i'm not a big fan of the video or song but since when have music videos had to relate to the subject matter of the song? maybe it's just my age or a severe case of selective vision but i'm sure this is isn't the first 'performance' video ever made

Finally a decent song to go with the post-Pulp Jarvis geography-teacher character. I don't really buy the negativity in the above comments, the song and video are ace!

music videos dont have to relate to the song, but when theres nothing else to think about other than watching jarvis 'do a jarvis' around some sort of collapsable ikea dream, perhaps it would be a good idea. or maybe im missing and this is the perfect representation of him and his music.

Like!

Perfect execution. Smooth transition. Not much a fan of Jarvis but I think this video is swell. I normally don't stay up watching any vid after its 1:00 minute mark but surprisingly I got through the whole thing. From what I've heard this was modeled after the album art and the song was the title track, so makes perfect sense. Song is awesome too.
