For all our readers who have ever watched a TV spot only to proclaim 'what a load of rubbish, even a donkey could make a better ad than that', now's your chance to prove yourself in a new competition launched by M&C Saatchi and HYPtv...

As its name suggests, the contest challenges young advertising creatives and filmmakers to create an ad in just 24 hours. The entries will then be judged by a panel including Peter Saville, M&C exec creative director Graham Fink, Alan Yentob and CR's very own Patrick Burgoyne.

To enter, you need to submit some work you've previously done online at hyptv.com/24hours. From this a group will be chosen to receive a secret brief on November 7 at M&C Saatchi's London offices and then will have 24 hours to devise, shoot and edit their commercials. If anyone has ever watched The Apprentice, you will know that this is not easy to pull off. The teams will have mentors from M&C to help them, and guerrilla filmmaker Johnnie Oddball will be on hand to also offer advice.

The films will all be shown and judged at the ICA cinema on November 8, and the winning work will be used as a pre-movie trailer at the ICA for eight weeks. For more info, visit hyptv.com/24hours.

I think this is a great idea, it could add a new level to advertising and will make it really dynamic and exciting with such a short time frame. I have often watched the apprentice and although I have never thought any them were particularly good they didn't have the relevant 'creative' skills but with the right skills this could be an amazing challenge.

It could also of course, go horribly wrong but I will be excited at seeing the results. I have heard a great deal about M&C Saatchi of late and they have had some really interesting ideas, some controversial but really interesting.

I also think this could be a great platform for unknown talent, which there is so much of and new film makers etc..

I am definately going to be keeping watch on this one.

I'm excited about this! I often think the best ideas come when there isn't enough time to over-think anything. It would be great for film students to have a go at, definitely. Certainly 'One to Watch'.
