Here at CR we're huge fans of artist Rob Ryan and so we were chuffed to bits that he took the time to talk to us in his studio – which has moved, lock stock and barrel, to a large room at graphic art fair Pick Me Up at Somerset House...

Rob Ryan and the various other people that run his studio are all working away on various things whilst in residence at Pick Me Up: screenprinting record sleeves for a release on Ryan's very own record label, Reach Around Records, and laboriously cutting out delicate new paper-cut work drawn by the prolific artist who, apparently, isn't as full of tea as he would be working in his normal studio...

I went to the late evening at Pick Me Up on Wednesday and was blown away by the quality at the event and his studio was one of the highlights of my evening. Wonderful talent and beautiful work, amazing how he gets such intricate detail with a scalpel.

Definitely worth going before it closes on 3rd May.

Just went today! Lovely to see his studio in front of you, and they all really take care and attention to the work they produce. Well done Rob Ryan and the team! The whole event is very inspiring. Definitely recommend to go before it closes of Monday!

I took a timelapse film of Rob and team working on the piece you filmed over the seven days. See it here: http://www.vimeo.com/11460856

This is really nice, in some ways it reminds me of the infamous "Jack Moose" although in many ways its nothing like the work of Jack Moose...

As usual, I am a late developer... I have just discovered Mr Rob and I am blown away by his work... so moving, so beautiful and so subtle... Better late than never though... I am now deciding what to buy, because I can not not have something by him. It lifts my spirit...

I have just discovered Rob's work via this link. His work is beautiful, so detailed and highly original. Working with scissors to make my collages, the way he uses a scalpel with such precision is an inspiration. That kind of work is almost blinding, like making lace or tapestry. Much respect given the diaphanous result, the intense process and the fact that a lot of visual imagery these days is created on computers...less and less by hand. Great work!
