Photographer Simon Roberts is Britain's official Election Artist. As his latest project comes to a close, he's still looking for people to take part in the first mass political photography venture of its kind in the UK...
Roberts' fantastic book We English came out late last year (published by Chris Boot) and featured large format photographs of the English at leisure. For his latest project he was commissioned as the Election Artist by the Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art to follow the campaign activity up to Election Day (this Thursday).

"Alongside my own photographs I'm calling for members of the public to contribute their own photographs of political activity in their area," says Roberts. "The submitted images will be displayed on The Election Project online gallery at theelectionproject.co.uk with some selected to be displayed at the official exhibition, alongside my own work, in the House of Commons after the election."
According to Roberts, he already has a large number of images uploaded to the website but is keen to get the submissions coming in up until the election results are in. "By documenting local political experiences," he says, "you will be contributing to an archive of photographs that capture the complexity of Britain's political landscape in 2010."
