By way of a round-up of some of the most interesting printed material to come into the CR office recently, here are a few images from new projects by Antony and the Johnsons, Phyllis Galembo, Andy Rementer, and A2/SW/HK...
A special edition of the forthcoming album Swanlights by Antony and the Johnsons consists of a collection of mainman Antony's delicate paintings, collages, photography and writings, as well as a copy of the album itself. The handsome (yet fragile) package is set for a release through Rough Trade later in the year.
OOPS! The publisher of the Swanlights book, Abrams, has asked us to remove images of Swanlights until after its release. Once we get the green light, we'll add those images back to this blogpost
We were also recently sent a copy of the fine catalogue that accompanies the current New Décor show, on at London's Hayward Gallery, art directed and designed by A2/SW/HK.
The New Décor brings together a number of contemporary artists whose work reimagines the language of interiors. The cover of the catalogue is itself a invented interior space, featuring artworks by Jim Lambie, Los Carpinteros, Tom Burr and Thea Djordjadze (among several others who feature in the show).
A custom colour palette runs throughout the book (35 tints no less) which was inspired by current home and interiors trend forecasts, say A2. The essays and artist's texts are typeset in New Rail Alphabet, the font conceived by the design studio in collaboration with Margaret Calvert. You can buy the catalogue here.

Belts Couch (2004) is a lounger designed by Monica Bonvicini to oppose stereotypical views of domesticity

A Day in the Life of ___ (2009), created by Raq Media Collective, is a reinvention of the clock, which now measures and co-ordinates states of being

Crazy-Nomad-02/Globe-trotters (2007). Pascale Marthine Tayou assembled these beauties using an assortment of junk items
Up next is the highly intruiging Maske by Phyllis Galembo – an album of portraits of traditional masqueraders from all over Africa, which will be out in October by Chris Boot. There are some amazing colourful creations documented here:

And finally, but also of note is this new collection of comic strips and illustrations by Andy Rementer.
Spiller #3 features a host of visual stories that deal with, among other things, the mundanity of office life and the torment of the long-suffering Artist. Well worth a look (there are even stickers, too). Buy it here.
