Raving, I'm Raving

Music Video / Film

The nostalgia train has arrived at the end of the 80s, judging by this new video directed by Daniel Wolfe which portrays the rave scene towards the end of the decade in almost documentary-style detail. Prepare to reminisce, people...or pretend to if you're a bit too young to really remember.

The track is Blind Faith by Chase & Status, featuring Liam Bailey.

"Absolutely blinding" to remain in character with the era this echoes - really authentic video and great music as well. Brings back memories to me - yep I'm old enough to remember (partly) those hedonistic days. One of my life regrets is that I always left my precious cameras at home when I went to the raves and parties 'back in the day'. Super stuff I will be looking out for Daniel's work in the future. Thanks for sharing it.

Sorry, unless I'm very much mistaken (which I often am when attempt smug blog comments!) they are playing a Sega Mega Drive (1990 in the UK) with Super Kick-Off (1992 for the Mega Drive).

@ Ed Wright

Darn it - we spent ages discussing what year it could be. Some of the references said early 90s but the girls' hair said late 80s to me, so not having your gaming knowledge I plumped for then. Mark is now scrutinising the NME cover to work out which one it could be...

I don't want to have to say this, but there is a BMW with an 02 plate that appears briefly at 3 mins 4 seconds.

Minor errors aside, it's still a great piece.

Good work, but does this mean we are about to witness the widespread re-emergence of the blouson jacket? I'm not sure I can cope although I had several random people offer to buy the one I used to wear circa 1990.

Great video, but I think you'll find It's a black 1990 BMW 3 series, registration G402 ABY. Go to the Enquiry page on the DVLA site and see for yourself (yes I am sad)

Worth a watch for the last twenty seconds.
That firework and 'it's not about running' is all they needed to film... heheheh

Incredible. Definitely deserves a feature length film. Apart from 24hr Party People there hasn't really been a good movie that captures the early rave scene. Well done, truly authentic!

Isn't the game Sensible Soccer?? I had that on the Amiga 1200. It came out in 1990 I reckon. Although the Amiga was joystick and not controller based, so i'm not 100%.

Great video by the way.

@ Rufus

Ahh, I had thought of Sensible Soccer, which would date it to 1992 or later on the Mega Drive. I also thought it might have been World Cup Italia 90. But the black pitch diagram that is overlaid on the screen at 0.05 seems to point to Super Kick-Off.

Oh yeah, great video!

Takes me back, receive a cryptic message at 9, followed the glow stick deep into the forest with record bag in-tow, drop the needle and get your boogie on, perfect.
