FWA needs your vote
The FWA website has compiled its 12 favourite sites of the year, and is inviting you to pick your overall favourite in its People's Choice Award.
This is the FWA's (Favourite Website Awards) tenth year of sifting through millions of websites to award the daily accolade of FWA Site of the Day. At the end of each month the FWA team then chooses a Site of the Month, and the 12 sites that received the latter award in 2010 have been put forward to the Site of the Year Awards. These will be judged by a panel of industry folks, but the FWA is keen for you to also have your say. The 12 sites nominated are listed here in month order, simply pick your favourite and then go online here to cast your vote.
January's site, a still from which is shown above, is Verbatim Championship, a game site where users can create a characters constructed from Verbatim products and then fight other players' figures. The site was created to celebrate the launch of a Japanese branch of Verbatim. The site is here.
Februrary showcases an unusual catalogue site for the Wrangler Blue Bell Spring/Summer 2010 collection, which allows users to intefere with the model, occasionally tearing his clothes off. Site is here.
March is the interactive online movie and iPhone game Bank Run, which sees users plunged into the centre of a complex spy film. Site is here.
In April, BMW's site for the new 5 Series was the FWA site of the month. It allows users to create their own online sculptures using the car's silhouette. Site is here.
May saw another car site win the monthly award, this time for Lexus. The site includes an interactive film, Dark Ride, which invites you to become the car's navigator and take part in the action alongside the driver, Tony. Site is here.
In time for the World Cup in June, Louis Vuitton released this site starring legendary footie players Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona and Pele. Site is here.
July's pick is another brand game site, this time for savoury snack brand Cheetos. Players are invited to command an army of either Crunchy or Puffs snacks and battle it out for supremacy. Site is here.
Perrier comes over surprisingly saucy in August's site of the month, which sees Dita Von Teese inviting viewers into the Perrier Mansion for a fun time with sparkling mineral water. Site is here.
Arcade Fire's interactive website The Wilderness Downtown, created to promote the band's track We Used to Wait, is September's pick. Incorporating Google Chrome and Google Maps, the site invites you on a journey back to the town you grew up in. Site is here.
October saw this interactive site celebrating a retrospective of Claude Monet's works at the Grand Palais in Paris picked as the favourite. Site is here.
This site for the Swedish Armed Forces is November's pick. It invites users to solve problems using their webcams to see if they have what it takes to make it as a recruit. Site is here.
The final website in the competition is this site for Nespresso, which is December's site of the month. Users interact with the site to awake the flavour-making machine and make their favourite coffee. Site is here.
The voting for the People's Choice Award closes on January 13. There is only one vote allowed per person, and the winner will be announced on January 15. Visit thefwa.com/pca2010 to cast your vote.
