Here's a nice idea from Danish artist Jacob Dahlstrup: creating images using a tattooing machine on heavy watercolour paper

Dahlstrup sketches the design in pencil first, then goes over it with the tattoo needle to create the final effect

This is one of those pieces you see and think "I wish I'd done that first!"

Gorgeous...I want one. Christmas present anyone?

Pedestrian at best.

And it could do with a little proof reading: it's Sailor's Grave, not Sailors Grave.

This could very well be what I have been destined to see as such a brilliant technique would zoom my work to new and amazing highest. You see, I create images with graphic pens and ink using pointillism which I consider the actions of my hand to be much like a tattoo machine. My thoughts are that given the action of the machine, It is very likely producing larger pointillism pieces simply because of the efficiencies a tattoo machine would provide. Yes, pointillism most times for me emulates meditation with a constant parade of images appearing as the ink is laid down. Can you imagine the possibilities, I already have.

Not only a talented tattooist, with a clever imagination......also an inventor! This is almost the reverse of letterpress...

Oh, and love the thought that went into Dede's comment. How do you pronounce Dede, by the way? Definitely worth commenting, Dede. Well done you.

Puncture-ation. Ed I like it, not as much as you probably do though ;)

This guys got talents as a tattoo artist as a unique mark maker...although maybe its my imagination...but don't tattoo artists already practice on heavy paper?

Well done for showcasing it either way.

And Dede, congratulations on such an insightful and enlightening critique, I'd be surprised Mr. Burgoyne isn't clearing a space for you on the CR team right now.

We should all try to look at the world sideways from time to time. Just like the late great Alan Fletcher.
