Brooklyn-based artist Julia Chiang has an unusual medium for her work - melting lollipops, nailed to the wall

Chiang uses Ring Pops, a ring-shaped lollipop which you can wear on your finger, as exhibited recently by such pre-eminent figures of our times as Lindsay Lohan and Mariah Carey. As the lollies melt, they leave beautiful coloured trails down the walls - something which Chiang has made use of in Hugs and Kisses, from 2009 (below, courtesy: OHWOW Miami), Forever and Ever, 2005 (shown top) and One of a Kind, 2009 (bottom).

Her latest installation is to mark the opening of ultra-chic New York Hotel The Standard's shop. As you might expect The Standard Shop is more the kind of place you might pick up a $1200 fixed gear bike than a packet of Hobnobs and the evening paper. Chiang's installation will run along one wall of the space, spelling out the words All For You in her trademark sticky style.

The installation ties in with an edition of 50 glazed porcelain apples, also by Brooklyn-based Chiang and also called All For You which will be on sale in the shop. Each three-inch apple is handmade in porcelain and glazed a glossy red.

i saw "one of a kind" and thought it was very interesting because the phrase meant something conceptually based on her medium. its unique. the drips morph and are never the same, so each time someone looks at it - its "one of a kind" i've never seen her other work but i wish she took that into consideration with her other phrases. seems shallow and one dimensional now.
