adidas Originals ad; agency: Sid Lee; prod co: Partizan; director: Nima Nourizadeh

For its latest spot for adidas Originals, agency Sid Lee (who are profiled in the next issue of CR) has moved the party from the house to the street...

This new spot, which celebrates adidas Originals' collaboration with the Star Wars franchise in a new collection of clothing and shoes, follows the earlier House Party ad for the brand, shown here. As in House Party, it features a number of celebs - see if you can spot them... What the ad doesn't reveal though, is quite why adidas has chosen to collaborate with Star Wars right now. Is there an anniversary we've missed?

Shown below are pics showing some of the shoes from the Star Wars collection - more can be viewed online at facebook.com/adidasoriginals.

Skywalker

Death Star Superstar

Stormtrooper Superskate Mid

Darth Vader ZX 8000

sorry, not buying the advert, its just a bad rip off of the last one (which was awesome), but on a street, with star wars noises and a few character costumes added in. Poor. Something should of been done here to do the films justice and IMO this isn't it. Sorry!

These trainers are worth it just for the action figure style blister packaging they come in. http://www.falaquack.com/wp-content/gallery/adidas-starwar/star-wars-adidas-71508-6.jpg

Check out the website. There's a really great Facebook mash-up thingy which blew my mind. But then thick Star Wars and Adidas together and I'm easily impressed.

There's definitely something missing from the ad spot. The link to Star Wars wasn't all that strong , and it didn't make me want the shoes, or want the 'originals' look.
The still ad's on the other hand, I love. The products right there, and it's [quirky] theme is obvious. Wouldn't mind a pair of 'Lukes' or 'Stormtroopers'!

My god, what's happened to their reflections!!! I'm pretty convinced that it's vampires that don't have reflections, not Stormtroopers! Surely a candidate for Photoshop Disasters!

I think this is a good bit of fun that has paid off. it is very similar to the last 'house party' ad, but that worked too. It was fun, stylish and pure Adidas. I think the packaging is an extra treat and a step onwards from the house party. It's not like they could have sold their T-shirts in plastic red cups is it? Or did they?

I agree CR, odd time to collaborate. Can we expect an A-team line of shoes for the forthcoming feature film? Now i'd definitely be up for that...

Very strange collaboration and I agree with Chris, strange time. Why now? As much as I like the partnership I don't think I'll personally be investing. I'm out.

What a load of rubbish — "lets have some DJ's, fog and ooooh Mr Beckham to try and sell our trainers"

They're butt ugly and no amount of money or adver-hype will change that simple fact.

Loving the product. Geektastic slam dunk. Seriously, Skywalker hightops - got to have them. What a wasted opportunity on the ads though, did anyone spend more than 30 seconds thinking about them?
