Compare the Market ad, Agency: VCCP

Our first round-up of work for 2010 sees the continuation of the Compare the Meerkat saga with this spoof film trailer for forthcoming meerkat blockbuster, The Journey of Courageousness. The trailer is more amusing on its own than as part of the latest Compare the Market TV spot, shown here, which feels considerably more laboured...

Specsavers ad; agency: Specsavers Creative; creatives: Graham Daldry, Steven Loftus; prod co: Adopted Films; director: Henry Sheldon

Also released this week is the latest iteration in the 'should have gone to Specsavers' campaign, which this time features a hardy sperm with an eyesight problem. The spot also celebrates the optician's 25th birthday.

Next up is a new website for clothing store TK Maxx, which offers the opportunity for users to upload photos of their men and see them modelling TK Maxx clothes in comedic fashion. The site is one of the first offerings from Infinite Corridor@Annex, a new arm of production company Annex Films that will create "cross-platform advertising, branded content and experiential art projects". Infinite Corridor@Annex handled the concept, design and build of the TK Maxx site, and even composed the music, which can be downloaded here, if you are so inclined.

Virgin Mobile ad, prod co: The Directors Bureau, director: Mike Maguire

Mike Maguire directed this surreal spot for Virgin Mobile.

Promo for You Got Nothing by Larytta, directed by Tatiana Rihs

Finally, it may be snowing outside (in the UK at least), but this video brings thoughts of sunny days as director Tatiana Rihs puts melting ice-cream to good use for Larytta track You Got Nothing.

I think they've whored Alexanr for all he's worth now. Expect to see him in singles bars with the guy from the Orange cinema adverts any time now.

I think it's fair to say the meerkat has jumped the shark. Too long, not funny enough, feels stale. A pity, because I loved the original work.

Oh, Aleksander is brilliant! I like shorter TV spots. The specsavers one is funny, but not anywhere near as good as the Meerkats imo.
Thanks for the warm thoughts from the Promo vid - though it's not snowing so badly in the midlands, it just freezing with ice!

this is another cr joke surely. cynically show cr@p telly adverts randomly found and label under 'more nice work'.

The only ad that gets my vote for anything that's worth anything is the Specsavers Postman Pat ad. The only Specsavers ad I can stand and makes me chuckle every time. All the rest of these are tosh.

the virgin ad doesn't make sense...wouldn't she have had to leave one of hear ears as well in order to listen to the one on the other end
