Showing at Somerset House between March 10 and April 5, A Positive View will exhibit more than 100 rare and signed photographic words across almost a century of photography. Genres covered in the show include still-life, fashion, landscape, portraiture and reportage – and the impressive list of exhibitors includes the likes of Richard Avedon, Miles Aldridge, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Corinne Day, Patrick Demarchelier, Helmut Newton, Gwon Osang, Irving Penn, Rankin, Mario Testino, Ellen Von Unwerth, Bruce Weber and Wim Wenders.

As well as showing works by acclaimed European and American photographers, A Positive View will also provide an opportunity to view works by a host of contemporary photographers from Korea, China, Japan and West Africa and some relatively unknown image makers.

The show will be followed by a Royal Gala reception and auction at Christie's on April 15 in aid of UK homeless charity Crisis. A 200 page book containing images of the exhibited works is due for publication in March and will be available (priced at £25) from Somerset House during the exhibition - as well as from Christie's, specialist art bookshops and online via amazon.co.uk. A limited edition, signed and numbered hardback edition will also be available - but will set you back a little more (£100). Remember - it's all for a good cause.

Here's a little preview of a few of the images that will be on show...

Love the Cartier-Bresson and Win Wenders shots above but not so keen on the others. I'm also partial to Irving Penn but always thought Helmut Newton was a just a fetishest!

I like Henderson and Wm Wenders shots from the selection here, and whilst I don't particularly like a couple of them, overall it sounds and looks quite good! Might visit amazon in a bit!

Wouldn't miss it for the world. Every one of these snappers has a story to tell and the track record to make it of value and interest. A brilliant idea.

@ Bruce Robbins
Helmut Newton was a bit more than just a fetishist.

Corinne Day's image of Kate is so iconic, a massive talent and a tragic waste of the most forward thinking photographer of a generation. Modelling and photography without Kate Moss would be empty but credit has to be given to Corinne Day for putting Kate at the forefront of Grunge photography in the 1990's, a huge talent that is sorely missed and has not been replaced in the UK!
