There are plenty of awards judged by creatives, but which ad agencies do clients rate? A new survey puts Team Saatchi, Saatchi & Saatchi and BBH at the top of the list
The Agency Reputation Survey conducted a YouGov poll of 340 of the top-spending marketers in the UK on behalf of Pitch, a new website from the publishers of Marketing Week (and also CR) that aims to bring together marketeers and ad agencies.
Respondents rated agencies on creativity, value for money, account management, marketing strategy and digital ability. Saatchi & Saatchi and its Team Saatchi off-shoot share top spot in the survey, perhaps reflecting the impact of ECD Kate Stanners, one of the few women in such a senior creative post, but also perhaps an illustration of the enduring impact of the Saatchi name.
BBH was in joint first place and took top spot in the creativity category. Joint fourth come M&C Saatchi and Mother. Bizarrely, Mother came top in the account management category even though it was founded on the principle of not having any account handlers – a lesson there perhaps.
Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO is in joint sixth place with Fallon.
Pitch aims to bring marketers and agencies together in one place with a mixture of editorial and user-generated content. It is a members' only site for those with a marketing budget of more than £100,000 a year and ad agencies that pay a yearly fee to subscribe and thus find out what clients think about them through the various comment streams, surveys and discussion areas on the site.

All this shows is that clients don't know anything about agency land - despite what most agencies would like to think they are fairly anonymous and homogenous as far as clients are concerned. Saatchi was BY FAR AND AWAY the most mentioned agency and you have to conclude that this is really just name recognition from back in the day - i.e. the first name that springs to mind when discussing advertising.

Rubin is wrong... Saatchi have certainly not always been top of this survey and in fact they have been far lower down when in fact they were much bigger..so they are clearly doing something right at the moment
