Online shop and design studio Present&Correct is currently offering up books that its founder, Neal Whittington, has collected with rather wonderful front covers by Dutch illustrator Dick Bruna – who is perhaps best known as the creator of Miffy (the rabbit). Here are some of the books up for grabs...

Each book is available for £6.50 from presentandcorrect.com

Bruna has created thousands of commercial books covers in his time, (mainly for A.W Bruna & Zoon the publishing company owned by his father), something we discovered when we were designing the book of the exhibition 'Bond Bound: Ian Fleming and the Art of Cover Design'. You can see a small selection from his full James Bond set in the top right of the photo here: http://webbandwebb.co.uk/webb/ian_fleming_4.htm.

The bear character which appears on all the books above, and the Bond series, was the logo of the Little Black Bears pocket series which focused on mainly detective style stories. The series was uniform in size and used similar styling across all titles to encourage readers to collect the whole set. Hence the rat on the cover of 'Ratten on der trap', above, also appears on 'The spy who loved me' in the bottom right of the Bruna spread in our photo.
