Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine; director: Legs; prod co: Rokkit
Directing team Legs channels the fashionable shamanic vibe in this video for Florence and the Machine's Dog Days Are Over...
"Florence is the shamanic leader of a surreal orchestra where spiritual elation explodes into smokey psychedelic anarchy," says Legs. "Each musical element of the song is personified by a group of colourful characters that combine 60s girl groups, Hinduism, gospel choirs, drum circles, paganism and pyrotechnics. Florence is a painted primal force of nature that whips a religious experience into a riot."
Golly.
It seems pop stars are all about tribalism these days though - check out MGMT and Friendly Fires for previous examples of the genre.

I love florence but I think her make up has her looking rather like a panto dame in this video. I 'get' the vision but I don't think this was successful expression.

very good song, nice idea, but very bad execution. Looks like a very low budget :(

wow... Who would of though that Dr & the Medics would become style icons. Good Song, Good Singer, really unimaginative video. Honestly if you're going to do something stylised, do it well or just stay home.

I personally like the old one better......

I love this song.
The video...I love the colours but I don't think the video does justice to the song. Florence looks quite hiddeous (she is normally a true bohemian beauty) due to make up and jerky body movements. No relevance to the song at all. This is a really bad video, sorry.

the video didn't do the song justice

i think the previous comments are rubbish. the look is great, the make up and smoke giving it a revolutinary feel. totally inspiring. when have the images have to be literal. get a life. feel the emotion in the song and video. I would feel proud to be involve in this project and will use it to influence my creativity in my photography.
stop belly gazing and LOOK UP!

i think that the only interesting thing about the new video is the avatar/kabuki/kate bush makeup. The makeup is very editorial and looks like something out of a magazine. the rest of the video looks cheap as chips.
