Currently showing at the Derby Quad gallery is a series of photographs by Matt Stuart that celebrate Britain's enthusiasts, hobbyists and fanatics...
The images captures Britons engaging in activities they clearly love, whether that be chess, ballroom dancing or riding a bike dressed in a panda suit. The series was commissioned by the Vauxhall Collective, and Stuart was given a bursary by Vauxhall to create the work, plus access to a new Vauxhall Astra, which he travelled around the UK in to photograph different weekend pursuits.

The exhibition is on at the Derby Quad until January 16. More info is at derbyquad.co.uk.

Subcultures are always an interesting thing to shoot, be interesting to read some context behind the work.

I really love how Stuart uses perception to create unusual visual effects, like a trick on the eye, very clever.
