Dylan Kendle at Tomato employs time-lapse photography to lovely effect in this new video for Underworld track Bird 1...

The film is Kendle's first video for ten years, and is in part inspired by an unexpected event that took place at his mother's house. "There was a line [in the song], 'there is one bird in my house', that reminded me of an incident at my Mum's," he explains. "A bird got into the dining room and smashed all the china on the shelves. Everything was calm before and different afterwards, but for several minutes there was an explosion of colour and the room came to life as the pieces flew."

This video is on the deluxe edition of Barking - there's a DVD included with a film for each album track. Interesting to hear the back story to the video though I can't quite see the the connection? The package itself is a fine ugly/beautiful thing - soon to be featured on Hard Format!

Wow, that's amazing. The stop time is incredibly smooth. Really liking the organic feel.

Beautiful... for something related to the bbc.
For Underworld however... dull as dishwater.
This video seems to be a personal response to a memory and not the song that it goes with.
Lovely looking but must try harder to respond to the direct brief that a song write in my opinion.

Just great—It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a video that’s this good. With todays demands for instant gratification, or the way everything is now kooky or lo-fi its great to see such thoughtful work. The bravery to create such a restrained and delicate but still powerful piece, where ‘nothing much happens’, is very impressive. It’s so beautifully shot and lit too—it’s just a shame about the music, which is pleasant enough but just not deserving of this video.
