Heineken Light's 'occasionally perfect' billboard

Wieden + Kennedy New York last week turned an ordinary billboard in New York into the set for a gig, as part of an ad campaign for Heineken Light beer...

The billboard, which is located on Lafayette and Great Jones in NYC, features the text 'this billboard is occasionally perfect'. As the film below shows, it is just an average poster site, though last Tuesday it formed the backdrop for a surprise gig by US indie rock band TV on the Radio.

The band performed a short set in front of the ad, with fans alerted to the gig via Twitter and Facebook. Further events in the Occasionally Perfect campaign will take place over the next few months, to keep up with when and where they are happening, check out the #occasionallyperfect hashtag on Twitter or Heineken's Facebook page.

What are they trying to say?

Their beer is OCCASIONALLY perfect?

Not the best thing to say.

Shoulda woulda coulda done something better like projecting peoples tweets of what they though of the new light beer. Result would be better than this surely!

Infinitely prefer TVOTR over Plan B, but the Bulmers ad is a far better concept. Not sure what 'Occasionally perfect' is really supposed to mean, and putting a band on a stage 20 ft in the air seems rather daft.

Agree with Michael.

I accept that occasionally, a lower alcohol beer is perfect for your requirements but sadly there's going to be a level of confusion here.

Nice use/blend of outdoor and viral though

Not quite original. In fact, pretty thieving....

To me this looks like the band is a sell out with such overt branding behind them. It would have been better to create something like a live music billboard sponsored by Heineken. Probably the best… opps thats someone else.

One of the most intelligent designs I've seen in a long time. Its got the old channel4 'Big Brother' eye advert effect - does just enough to catch your eye and leave your mind asking questions.
