I do like to be beside the seaside

Harking back to the vibrant holiday postcards of yesteryear, iLoveDust has illustrated a series of posters for CST's bank holiday campaign for lastminute.com...
The high-contrast posters aim to encourage English people to holiday at home this April and are the result of a collaboration between lastminute.com and enjoyEngland. CST say that the series will run as 48-sheets in London, Manchester and Birmingham from the beginning of March.

lovely idea evocative of a time when everyone stayed at home and promoting what is on your door step is a good way to go....and relevant in the market now as it has been for some time. This design route was worked into the 'wish you were here' campaign for the Edinburgh Mela Festival 2010 b y Lunaria, so maybe this should be for lastyear.com?

I think it's a pretty common 'look':

I like them though.

I suppose if retro designs are well researched and expertly executed then the finished results are, by definition, going to have a similiar look and feel. So maybe not suprising that it very similiar to the 2010 Edinburhg Mela promo
material

This doesn't blow me over... but out there on the streets amongst all the rubbish, I'm sure it would catch my eye. And make me smile. Job done? Whether it would encourage me to spend a weekend in Bognor is another thing.

I love dust produce awesome work. Consequently, I also feel this is not their best work and could perhaps have been taken further along the 'carry on' style seaside post card vibe.

I hadn't made up my mind about this after reading the post until I saw it when I waiting to cross the road. Seeing it for real made me instantly like it and appreciate it for it's style and design.
I would only change one thing- make lastminute.com and the enjoy england logo smaller.
