I am part of the first team at Goldsmiths to put together a Media and communications Degree Show at Goldsmiths. This takes a look at our practical work in photography, animation, film and documentary television, radio, illustration, journalism and script and prose. It should be a diverse and lively show and runs alongside the prestigious Art Degree Show at Goldsmiths.

I went over to the a midlands based Degree show to see some of the work there and the students. Some of the work I was blown away with, specifically in the automotive design area, their work is truly inspirational. The graphic design work was good, but it certainly didn't blow me away.

This might be because I come from a web design background, but I did start out with print design and I just feel that I've seen more talent from self taught people than in the uni's. I know the students have to put their own spin on stuff, but they are still taught best practices that the tutor has, not their own. I think the students need to branch out a little bit and find their own preferred method of design and then maybe we'd see a bit more work that's 'blow us away' good.

The Private View will be from 5.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. on Friday 3rd June.

The show will be open to the public on Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th June.

Medium is the University of Westminster’s 2011 graduate degree show for BA Mixed Media Fine Art. This show comprises 44 artists working in a variety of different media; previous shows have displayed high levels of ambition and exciting ways of seeing and responding to the world around us. The level of variety within the year group offers a range of interests that has diversified the work significantly. Medium, several years of undergraduate study and experimentation in the making, promises to be the most ambitious and exciting yet.

The show is taking place at P3 Ambika on Marylebone Road. This 14’000 square ft. space offers a huge range of daring and formidable opportunities, the nature of which will allow this group to flourish practices that have already developed far beyond the limitations of the studio space. Centrally located opposite Baker Street tube station, this venue is ideally situated.

MA Innovation Management: Create Destroy Innovate is a multi-platform degree show to challenge prevailing assumptions about the value and boundaries of innovation today. Standing on the creative shoulders of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, MA Innovation Management 2011’s graduating class will confront the status quo of innovation in business, design, research, art and society.
