He's collected original Wim Crouwel posters for years. Now Tony Brook is the co-curator of the Design Museum's current exhibition on the Dutch graphic designer which runs until July 3...
Tony Brook of Spin and also Unit Editions kindly invited us into his home to reveal the extent of his admiration of the work of Dutch designer Wim Crouwel: the walls of his house are covered in framed original posters by the designer. In this film, made in collaboration with Order, Brook explains his enduring fascination with Crouwel's work.
Wim Crouwel, A Graphic Odyssey runs until July 3 at London's Design Museum. Read our post on the exhibition here.

Very nice video, looks like it will be a good expo.

Fantastic short interview and an amazing commitment to WC. I tried back in 1998 to get an interview at Spin before leaving the design studio AREA. Instead I ended up at Pentagram which wasn't so bad, but even back then their detailing was amazing. It's true that most designers are collectors — I collect, amongst many other things, books, Robert Welch products, all things Alan Fletcher/Pentagram, music and at this very moment in time Richard Scarry's classic 1970's toy, Puzzletown, for my two little boys (well that's what I tell people anyway).

Great video. Pretty interesting to see the extent of Brook's collection. I wonder how much influence he would say Crouwel had over his design work?

A superb video. It's great to see the extent of Brook's obsession and that he's had the chance to meet and interview his design hero.

Having visited the Wim Crouwel show at the Design Museum I too was impressed at seeing his poster work in the flesh - it's powerful, deceptively simple stuff, and you can imagine how revolutionary it must have been when it was first created. The Design Museum had some repro Crouwel posters on sale in their shop, which I was quite tempted by before I saw the price tags - which ran into three figures for some unmounted copies! I'd be surprised if the originals cost more - but perhaps Tony Brook is trying to recoup his investment!

Hi Keith - I’m delighted you enjoyed the show. Just so you know Crouwel posters now sell for many hundreds and occasionally thousands of pounds, I bought my posters before the boom so my investment is looking secure! I believe the poster you were looking at was Vorm Gevers which is particularly rare, the limited edition reproduction was beautifully made at great expense by Mark Blamire at Blanka. The original can sell for 2-3K, so from that perspective it is a bargain! Anyway enough of the plugging, the poster has nothing to do with me. All the best Tony

A very nicely shot and interesting film. I would love to display my collection in my house the way he has done, but I don't think my wife would be too keen on turning our tiny house into a design museum. For now they have to go up in the studio.
