CR for CR: Graham Fink will crit your book
Posted by Creative Review, 16 March 2011, 12:40 Permalink Comments (11)

Our latest offer for Comic Relief is aimed at young ad creative teams, students, people on placement or anyone wanting some advice from one of the industry's top creative directors.
If you win our draw, Graham Fink, executive creative director of M&C Saatchi will crit your book and give you advice on how to improve it. Fink will sit with you for a minimum of 30 minutes, go through your book and give you the benefit of nearly 30 years in the business.
Famously, Fink got his first job at CDP by dressing up as an old man - he'd been told they wanted someone with more experience so he returned in disguise to the agency and got the job.
You don't have to resort to such shenanigans to get some valuable advice from Fink today. Go to our JustGiving page, donate £5 to Comic Relief, not forgetting to leave your email in your message and, at 10am on Monday 21 March we will pick a winner at random.
We are doing this as a draw because it is aimed at placement teams, students etc and we did not want those most in need of advice to miss out because they could not afford the top bid.
This offer is for a 30 minute crit. CR will not pay any travel expenses. The auction winner will be responsible for setting up the meeting.
Remember, let us know what you're up to for Red Nose Day as we want to feature as many fundraising efforts by our readers as we can this week.
And if you're interested in bidding on any of the items we're auctioning, here's a reminder of what we've got on offer so far:

shouldn't he be doing this sort of thing anyway. isn't that just his job?

@ Kate
He does, as well as also running the ArtSchool, a free educational project for young creatives and being heavily involved with DA&D. But his time is limited and not everyone who wants to get a crit with him can. Hence this opportunity.

M&C were hot 10 years ago - now a bit damp.

A. It's for charity.
B. It's cheap.
C. It's a valued crit from a top industry professional, the very industry you work in, and any opinions on your book, either from those who have no clue about the nuts and bolts of design/advertising, to the people who've worked in the business for decades all come in handy.

In my opinion, anything that is contributed to charitable causes is a good and generous thing. I just don't like how this is advertised. Everything being donated to CR for CR should have equal value. Why couldn't we have just seen a sweet selection of his work? Just a thought.

I think it's a nice gesture from a busy man. Really people are so cutting. I met Graham once and he did 'crit my book' (about 15 years ago!) when I was working in London. He was patient and genuine and came across as a real nice guy which is a rare thing in the advertising industry. There are too many nasty people in the business with absurdly inflated egos. Why I don't know as George Orwell said 'Advertising is the rattling of a stick inside a swill bucket.' Go fer it Mr Fink, like the jumper.

Think it's a great idea. And I know Finkie's not doing it for the money. Years back, I snailed him an idea. Next thing I know, he was calling me. No big deal, some say. Yeah, except i was not in England. Wasn't even in Europe. Was on another continent. Yet, he called to give his support.

He could also do quite a good impression of Steve Malkmus on the side.

Gosh it'll turn his head with all this gushing. Better start a Facebook fan club.
Oh No! It already exists!
'Graham Fink and Banksy -have they ever been seen in the same room together?'

Great opportunity witth one of the industry's leading lights, and something that will no doubt raise considerably more money for CR (Comic Relief, not Creative Review!) than sitting in a bath of baked beans.
