SIRE: Marked For Life

A new campaign from 180 Amsterdam aims to raise awareness about the effects of divorce on children.
The campaign has been created for the Dutch organisation SIRE, a group of advertising and marketing leaders who donate their time to create work that raises awareness of social issues. In Marked For Life, SIRE looks at divorce, and how the unkind words that parents may say in front of children during the stress of a separation can stay with them for life.

The print campaign, which shows children bearing tattoos of the words spoken by their angry parents, was shot by rising star Laura Pannack, who featured in the CR Jan 11 'new talent' issue. These posters are a translation of the original ads, which are in Dutch (see them here, along with more info on the campaign).

Accompanying the print work is a TV spot, directed by Ariel Kleiman and set to the track Words by The Bee Gees, shown below.

There's a difference between raising awareness of the effects of divorce generally, and more specifically raising awareness of parent's badmouthing each other during divorce. I just think your first line could be reworded.

Exactly the same as a advert in Australia for a children's charity (who's name escapes me). They set it to Kings of Leon... : |

Powerful work - the photography is absolutely spot on with the children. And never heard of SIRE before, great idea to get creatives involved in social issues - really asks some important questions around parent responsibilities and break-ups during divorce.

I totally agree with Steve. This is great work, but beware of misleading concepts: divorce is not what causes those wounds, it is careless and selfish parents who do that. I am divorced and regardless of all the bad times we went through with my ex husband, I always protected our daughter and refrained from statements that would harm her. Thanks
