Frieze Art Fair ticket giveaway

The Frieze Art Fair opens in London tomorrow and we have two tickets to give away. Rather than answer a question, we want you to come up with one. The best question wins the tickets...
In the current issue of CR, Eliza looks at how the art world has embraced identity design with museums, galleries and even art fairs such as Frieze recognising the importance of having a strong brand, previously seen as a dirty word in art circles.
As the fair opens tomorrow, we thought we would open up Eliza's piece to non-subscribers (you can read it, here) but also – thanks to Frieze – give away a couple of tickets to the fair itself (normally £27 each).
Simply pose a question suitable to win the prize on offer in the comments below and we'll choose a winner tomorrow (Thursday 13) at 10am GMT. Most original/thought-provoking question wins.
The pair of tickets will be held at the Frieze Art Fair box office in Regent's Park and will be valid for a single day's entry from Thursday until Sunday. More details on the fair at friezeartfair.com.

With the trend in galleries to embrace the online viewing space and the success of web only projects, like the VIP Art Fair and the Google Art Project, do you think a time will come when galleries, in their physical form, will cease to exist?

How are we influenced, by each other, to change our tastes (in the arts - music, sculpture) and feelings, and how does this affect us as people?

Why?

Would it be better to buy art in order to own it or to sell it and make even more money as we have seen some Asian collectors investing in wine because it was a better investment which would find buyers faster who would pay huge sum for a single bottle?
2011-10-12 16:29:33
Can I win the tickets? Please?
2011-10-12 16:29:57
Question: Why is this such a rubbish prize - two free tickets? No travel or supper. And why did Creative Review, with such a vast, intelligent and mobilised audience not insist on something more compelling to gain greater coverage online? And no, I don't expect to win. I shall go to the supermarket and look for 2-4-1 coffee matchmakers. More compelling...

The public has become much more aware of brand identity and how it is used to communicate messages. How has this growing understanding of brand culture changed the way in which art "brands" must think about themselves?

i looked in a crafts gallery for the first time in ages last week. it was full of lovely ceramics. the stuff you could use was cheaper than the stuff you couldn't use but only look at. why? do we undervalue function and overvalue 'art'?

after a long day of walking around the Tate modern, me and my younger brother stood on the bridge overlooking the turbine hall. What seemed to be cardboard boxes were stacked high and dispersed across the hall. In the corner an old lady sat, apparently, reading a news paper. Pointing down below, I said to my brother "what do you think of this one..." in a state of muddle headed confusion, we both gasped, perplexed, were we attributing agency to an accident, some old ladies lunch break, which she happened to take amongst boxes? Or was the old lady and the boxes part of an installation, the considered gesture of an artist?

Building One was the pre-Frieze when all the YBAs gathered in a former factory. Then Frieze was born.
Question: Is there a new breed of YBAs at the horizon with the creation of a post Frieze?

Why is Frieze Art Fair not FREE FOR EVERYONE since it's located in a PUBLIC PARK and it's main incentive is to sell very high prized pieces of art by PRIVATE GALLERIES that probably outweighs the earnings from admissions anyway instead of forcing LOW INCOME creatives like me and people in general that would be seriously interested to attend to enter competitions of this kind to get their hands on a pair of otherwise hardly affordable tickets ?

After some deliberation, we're going give the tickets to... @frizzworld, who asked "Is technology lessening the gap between art and science?" A good, timely question! For example, artist Doug Aitken is launching his latest project this evening at the Serpentine Gallery in London, an app-based artwork called Altered Earth, which will be available from http://www.doug-aitken-arles.com. Apparently it's a multi-channel experience which aims to "expand the concept of 'place' into a limitless digital universe while attempting to forge an entirely new art form." Sounds exciting. But how comfortable are we with artworks as apps? Can you download an artistic experience? We'll have to wait and see... (Congratulations again to frizzworld, an email is on its way to you.)

The purpose of the dog is to bark.
One has to therefore assume that the purpose of art is to provoke.
I have seen many 'fads" in my sixty years of watching art , little provokes me like simple good art.
a small Calder mobile, the colossus Caro,a Freud dry point perhaps an early Hockney drawing or perhaps an Auerbach or Matisse or Picabia..
As for another slightly faded variation of Haitian graffitti or yet another diamond studded something in a large edition untouched by the artist other than the signature.
I went to Frieze today and found myself feeling sad rather than disappointed
This desperate need to be different , in my opinion striving at all costs to make "new" art, whereas the art that is presented as contemporary is in fact old, been done..................I found little to make me feel exited other than the fashionable people and the walk outside,
Perhaps the reason for art is not excitement but investment,is it really only about money.
Fear defeats reason.............come back Caspar Friedrich , all is forgiven.
