Hannah Blackmore, who was recently awarded a £1,000 bursary from CR to create a new piece of work, courtesy of iStockphoto, has completed a new documentary film with the money. It is shown here.

Blackmore is one of five outstanding graduates featured in the September issue of CR. The Regulars continues her interest in the changing face of Ramsgate in Kent. The film documents life in the Western Undercliff Cafe, located along a once-popular promenade in Ramsgate, which has now been replaced by the truck-filled A299.

As in her previous films, which have addressed the changing shopping streets in Ramsgate, The Regulars shows off Blackmore's photographic eye and delicate handling of a poignant story. More of her film and photography work can be seen online at hannah-blackmore.com. You can see the work of the other four graduates selected by CR in our September Graduate Special issue, details are below.

Thanks to iStockphoto for providing the bursary.

Hannah has beautifully highlighted the general apathy that has engulfed the whole of the UK, not just this one cafe in Ramsgate.

Can't imagine the south coast of France being turned into a lorry park.

An interesting film with some lovely photography. She's clearly got a good eye for composition and no DOF anywhere to be seen!
My only niggle is that I'd like to see her make slightly more of the the medium. Just ever so slightly; I do realise it's a quality of her work. I think the stillness of the shots are great, especially when there's a surprise bit of movement like the dog but occasionally it can start to feel like photography with a soundtrack. I'd also like to have heard some of those characters we see talking on camera sometimes rather than it just being a disconnected VO. I see Hannah's done that on some of her other films on her site and it really helps.
But very well done!
@Curator I'm not sure I agree it's about 'the general apathy that has engulfed the whole of the UK' though! Times change, sometimes people can't.

I don't often feel moved enough to comment but it has to be said, I love your work. I love the stillness of the film and the way a story unfolds.I've been meaning to tell the story of the dog turds that abound on the streets of my town of Cadiz, here in Spain. You've inspired me to get on and do it. Maybe it will change attitidues! Your work is Liked and shared.
