A selection of invitations to this year's degree shows

It's degree show season again. In order to cover as many as possible, CR is looking for volunteers to attend degree shows in your town or city and recommend the most interesting work

Each year, we cover as many degree shows as we can here on the CR website but there are only a handful of us. Time and money dictates that we cannot travel the length and breadth of the UK visiting every degree show. So, this year, we thought we would appeal to our readers for help.

Degree show invitation for Aberdeen College containing a real bottle of beer by Paul Mullen

We are looking for volunteers to cover any visual communications-related degree shows, whether BA, MA or any other level. We can't pay you, sorry, but we're hoping people will enjoy the experience. All we need you to do is to go along to the show of your choosing, photograph or otherwise gather images of the work you think is the most interesting and write a line or two on why you think that particular work is of note, making sure you credit the students involved and providing links to any relevant web addresses.

This invitation to the First Year Graphic Design Show at Kingston was written in the form of a film script personalised for CR editor Patrick Burgoyne

We will then publish your recommendations here on the CR website as part of our degree show coverage, alongside reviews from CR staff members.

If you are interested in taking part, please leave a comment below with an email address and the show or town/city you are interested in attending, or email us direct at emma.tucker@centaur.co.uk and we will contact you. Please do not put yourself forward to review shows with which you have a direct professional link (if you're an alumnus, that's fine, but no tutors or visiting lecturers etc please)

There's a very useful list of all the shows here

CR in Print
The June issue of Creative Review features an interview with the editors of new book Pretty Ugly: Visual Rebellion in Graphic Design. Plus a profile on multi-award-winning director Johnny Kelly, a look at the latest techniques in movie marketing, the mission to cross CGI's Uncanny Valley, a review of the Barbican's Bauhaus show, logos by artists and much more. Plus, in Monograph this month, we look behind the scenes at the making of an amazing installation for Guinness, carved from solid wood.

Please note, CR is no longer stocked in WH Smith high street stores (although it can still be found in WH Smith travel branches at stations and airports). If you cannot find a copy of CR in your town, your independent newsagent can order it for you or you can search for your nearest stockist here. Alternatively, email Laura McQueen (laura.mcqueen@centaur.co.uk) or call her on 020 7970 4878 to buy a copy direct from us. Based outside the UK? Simply call +44(0)207 292 3703 to find your nearest stockist. Better yet, subscribe to CR for a year here and save yourself almost 30% on the printed magazine.

I am actually attending a Degree Exhibition for Graphic Media Students from Colchester Institute this evening. We received an invite from them at work and I volunteered to go, will be happy to take photos and do a small review for you! The degree show is called 'Make do and Mend' - this is their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Make-Do-Mend-2012/180132068780007, and a blog post I found relating to it: http://hannahyapp.co.uk.

Let me know if i's of interest!

I'm a first year student but will be going to the 3rd Year Graphic Design show at University College Falmouth tomorrow and will review my favourite pieces for my blog.

I realise you'll probably want contributors with more experience but if you would like me to pass on my blog post about their work I'd be very happy for it to be included!

I would love to. I live in Worcester and graduated with a degree in graphic design in 2004. Since then I have gained 8 years commercial experience working for various companies as a graphic designer and brand manager. I also work for myself selling my illustrations and design all my own brand and marketing material for my illustrations and art business.

Let me know if there's anyhting I can help with in this area.

I've just finished the Camberwell, Chelsea, Wimbledon (CCW) foundation diploma (my specialism being graphic design) and have loads of images from the graphic design and illustration specialisms. I'm not sure if you'd be interested, as it was a foundation show, but I see you have the invitation photographed in the image at the top of the page. If so, contact me !

I can cover any london degree shows. I am currently a Graphic Design student at Central Saint Martins but thoroughly intrigued to see the others throughout london as well as all the UAL shows. I previously studied Architecture BSc at WSA, Cardiff and recently been helping current third years prepare their work so have some experience in that respect, as well as visiting several Graphic Design and Illustration degree shows last year. I would enjoy the opportunity and be happy to help.

Being two ex Kingston students we're a little sceptical about the Kingston 'Pilot' invite when we received it? Two years ago we approached Tony Davidson for a book crit with exactly the same idea/execution, to which he responded by writing a script back. Hopefully it's a complete coincidence and not something they heard down the student union and adapted. After all it is a show to demonstrate the originality of ideas. Right?

A very big well done to all involved in the Aberdeen College end of year show, I was amassed at the standards of this year’s work in particular the work of Paul Mullen (Akiro) well worth taking a look at this young man's website, great to see such strong talent coming out of Aberdeen.

I'd love to cover the University College Falmouth degree and MA shows. I'm a studio manager at a design company in Cornwall, and also studied my MA at Falmouth. I'm in the process of starting a photographic blog for people to sift through work I find interesting and find inspiration for new projects.

I went to Arts University College Bournemouth and had a really good long look around all the final shows there, they're fantastic! Way better than when I was there about 10 years ago - a really high standard. Please get in touch if you want to know more, some really creative and encouraging stuff there.
