Last night we popped down to the opening night of Pick Me Up, this year's instalment of the annual graphic art fair which takes place at London's Somerset House. It's on until April 1 but here's a brief selection of some of the work we liked...
This year, 20 illustrators and graphic artists from around the world have been selected to show their work in the Pick Me Up Selects section of the show which visitors find immediately on entering the gallery space.
Meanwhile, a host of collectives and galleries showcase their work and offer their wares for sale in a series of rooms upstairs. There's way too much great work to do Pick Me Up justice in a single blog post, but here are some images of work that caught our eye at last night's busy private view event:

This is a detail from a print by Phil Wrigglesworth.

Loved Tim Enthoven's images of heavily armoured folk busting dance moves.

These paper models form part of French graphic duo Zim & Zou's colourful showcase.

Talking of colourful, this happy parachutist is one of Mimi Leung's pieces.

This songstress is one of dozens of prints on display by Matthew The Horse Hodson.

Illustrator David Sparshot's Tweed Run image.

This new print by Crispin Finn is in Bristol's Soma gallery space, which is upstairs at Pick Me Up.
As well as prints and products to peruse and potentially buy, this year's PMU has a full schedule of workshops, talks, events and screenings.
Aardman are running a model-making workshop on Saturday 24, Joanna Van Der Meer of BFI Family will be delivering a series of animation workshops, and NoBrow will be running a comic book workshop with illustrators Jack Teagle and Liam Barrett.

CR is also getting involved. Tomorrow, Friday 23, we're running a paper toy workshop at Pick Me Up from 2pm - 7pm.
Visitors to the workshop will be able to make paper toys using a template designed by Paris-based illustrator and toy-maker, Tougui. And then they'll be able to customise their creations with a wide range of pens and colouring tools provided.

CR in Print
Thanks for visiting the CR website, but if you are not also reading CR in print you're missing out. Our April issue has a cover by Neville Brody and a fantastic ten-page feature on Fuse, Brody's publication that did so much to foster typographic experimentation in the 90s and beyond. We also have features on charity advertising and new Pentagram partner Marina Willer. Rick Poynor reviews the Electric Information Age and Adrian Shaughnessy meets the CEO of controversial crowdsourcing site 99designs. All this plus the most beautiful train tickets you ever saw and a wonderful behind-the-scenes look at Thunderbirds in our Monograph supplement
The best way to make sure you receive CR in print every month is to subscribe – you will also save money and receive our award-winning Monograph booklet every month. You can do so here.

So jealous of any one going, would of loved to see some of the work by Zim & Zou's and the workshops that are happening over the week.

Really strong showing this year I thought. The fairground atmosphere is palpable, with an amazing variety of events and stalls. Agreed, too much fun to see in one. Looking forward to another visit.
