This month we’ve got some beautiful new music releases to share with you from artists Sam Willis (cover of his LP, Winterval, shown above), Sunbeam Rd, Scott Walker, Mary Epworth, and more…
First up is the debut release from one half of musical duo Walls, Sam Willis. His Winterval LP features photographic imagery found on antique slides and the handwritten details on the black back cover of the LP were penned by Willis’ 92 year old grannie, Hetty Fraser.
The vinyl disc itself is a bright cadmium red with more photography on the central labels:
The next LP to catch our eye also features coloured vinyl. Breathers by Sunbeam Rd sports a colourful illustrated sleeve by band member Clive Hacker and a rather nice typographic title illustration by James T. Edmondson.
Each sleeve is hand numbered in an edition of 250 and the custom coloured vinyl sees bright colours eminate from the central labels…

This next release wasn’t easy to photograph. It’s Sinner DC‘s reflective, debossed CD cover for recently released album, Future That Never Happened. Once the cellophane wrap with a sticker has been removed, the album sports no text whatsoever.

Scott Walker‘s new LP, Bish Bosch is available as a double LP edition which features the painted album title in white on a matt black sleeve.The painted letters and drips have also been given a spot gloss varnish giving it a kind of wet-paint feel.
The edition comes with a CD of the album along with a booklet of lyrics and photographs by Davy Evans of the album artwork being created by Ben Farquharson. Design: Philip Laslett.
I had to include this – Pepe Deluxe‘s ‘deluxe edition’ of its recent Queen of the Wave album. Designed by the band’s James Spectrum in cahoots with Vilunki 3000, the edition is in a hardcover book format complete with 66 pages of artwork and extended album sleevenotes. Here’s a look inside the edition:

Mary Epworth‘s Dream Life album actually came out in June this year, but the vinyl edition (shown here) only became available a matter of weeks ago. A contender for my personal favourite album cover of the year, it features a beautiful image created in-camera (I believe smoke was involved) by artist Matthew-Robert Hughes.
