The Designers Republic Car Booty Affair ends this Saturday and it intends to go out with a bang, offering up even more “new loot” to punters at Sheffield’s Month of Sundays Gallery…

The above film offers a taste of the kind of things available but, as tDR informs us, “‘New loot’ means, at the very least, the tDR Holy Grails of Customized Terror / DR-Signage (etc) 2x1m banners from shows in NYC / Barca / Paris / Berlin / Belgium / London and Sheffield (etc). These are the LAST of the actual tour-damaged banners / artefacts from the shows and are sold as seen.”

TDR’s Ian Anderson will also be on site “to answer questions, sign work, spin yarn and chew the fat at the very end of the past.”

The gallery is open for tDR’s Car Booty Affair from 10am until 5pm today and Saturday. Month of Sundays Gallery is at 365 Sharrow Vale Road, Sheffield S11 8ZG.

    funny, how modern and ‘cutting edge the work seemed in the 90’s and beginning 2000, but looking at it now. its so dull, and old fashioned almost… the spark the work had is long gone.Seeing the work again, i have to conclude they are not timeless design pieces. Which questions the work of tdr all together. Looking back at it as one big hyped, kitsch design.

  • ^^ Yeah I was having this conversation a couple of days ago! The stuff seemed so far ahead of the curve. I used to buy horrible PWEI records just to own the graphic design on the sleeve. I think it was very much a product of it’s time.

  • It still is cutting edge… for it’s time.

    Once the design world becomes influenced by the work, it becomes the norm and culture moves on.

    oh well, never mind, at least it was modern and cutting edge at one time… i’d like to think whatever we see prompts us to question everything we see, all the time.
