London's KK Outlet is exhibiting a series of eye-popping posters made by the Colby Poster Printing Co. in Los Angeles, alongside some new pieces the print house created with designer, Anthony Burrill...
Colby was founded in 1946 and has a mix of clients on its books ranging from local steam fairs and governors' offices, to the Paris fashion store, collette. It seems the black-type-on-day-glo poster approach is favoured by all kinds – and is perfectly suited to rendering Burrill's large scale text pieces.
At KK Outlet, prints from the Colby archive will also be shown alongside new works by Burrill, which Colby has also produced. A limited edition run of Burrill prints have been created exclusively for Made in LA, and will be available to buy at the show.
To convey the full Colby experience the gallery has also commissioned some behind the scenes photographs that document the printing processes and the men and women who work at the print house.
