For the love of a Toyota Corolla

Cats famously hate car journeys, even more so if said car journey also involves the dreaded 'box'. But not if the car involved is a Toyota Corolla apparently

In this new post for the 2013 Toyota Corolla from Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand, a moggy loves the car so much, it'll do just about anything just to get inside. Creative director Corey Chalmers said "Anyone who’s taken a cat in a car ride knows how much they hate it, so we thought what lengths would a cat go to for a ride if they loved it?" Quite considerable lengths, it would seem.

Rebecca Lynch reviews the Book of Books, a survey of 500 years of book design, Jeremy Leslie explains how the daily London 2012 magazine delivered all the news and stories of the Games and Michael Evamy explores website emblemetric.com, offering "data-driven insights into logo design". In addition to the issue this month, subscribers will receive a special 36-page supplement sponsored by Tag celebrating D&AD's 50th with details of all those honoured with Lifetime Achievement awards plus pieces on this year's Black Pencil and President's Award-winners Derek Birdsall and Dan Wieden. And subscribers also receive Monograph which this month features Rian Hughes' photographs of the unique lettering and illustration styles of British fairgrounds

Wrong, wrong, wrong – no matter how good the ad, we should never, never, ever show animal cruelty in a humorous way even if is apparently self-inflicted in this case. This is not a cartoon – there are morons out there who will think it a good idea to recreate some of these ideas!

Sue - you're right ... the amount of times, as a child, i painted a stick of dynamite to resemble a cigar and then lit it, and gave it to my cat ... DAMN YOU TOM & JERRY!

good, very good. but not flawless. the irritating, the too long shots of the interior, the dashboard. And why is that interesting for a cat? If he would have a nice sleeping spot on the back seat, or the sound of the engine... ok. But whatever, right? Cats are hilarious.

Cat commercials are popular. I just never thought it would work for a car company. I guess it does.
