Meet Me Here: The Roper
Seattle, Washington-based studio, Lucid, has just finished the latest documentary film in its Meet Me Here series. The new short follows Kendrick Domingue, a young 'calf roper' from Lafayette hoping to make it big on the US rodeo scene...
The Roper, directed by Ewan McNicol, is part of Lucid's ongoing Meet Me Here series of short documentary films. The studio was one of several collectives featured in our July issue piece, Straight to Vimeo, which looked new filmmakers using the web to distribute (and often fund) their work.
The MMH series also includes films about a Biker Church, a Dirt Racer, and 'Bavarianism' – see lucidinc.com/meetmehere for the collected work to date.
The latest project continues MMH's pursuit of interesting "people, places and things" and blends a captivating story – Domingue is, he says, the only black roper on the Louisiana rodeo circuit – with some beautiful filmmaking. It's on the MMH site, here.
The score is by Madrona Music (with music supervision by Cary LoGrande at Audiosocket), while the track playing during the film is That L'Argent (remix feat. Tucka) by Lil' Nathan & The Zydeco Big Timers.
