BBH and Christie’s are holding an auction for Refuge. And the artworks on offer are great

Fancy getting your hands on an original artwork by one of the best contemporary graphic artists around? BBH and Christie’s are holding an auction to raise money for the charity Refuge next Thursday, and on offer are outstanding works from the likes of Anthony Burrill, Morag Myerscough, David Shillinglaw, Camille Walala, and more.

Titled ‘She Lights Up The Night’ – a title taken from one of the artworks, created by Lakwena Maciver – the project is curated by BBH London’s production director Aine Donovan (who also runs the online mag and print shop They Made This) and deputy executive creative director Caroline Pay. All artworks featured will be auctioned next Thursday (March 10) at Christie’s South Kensington, with monies raised going to Refuge, the charity which offers help for women and children who have experienced domestic violence.

The full list of artists taking part are Morag Myerscough, Anthony Burrill, David Shillinglaw, Hattie Stewart, Supermundane, Lakwena Maciver, Charlie Patterson, Camille Walala, Ana Montiel, and Jordy Van Den Nieuwendijk. Alongside these established names, BBH also invited students to propose works for the project, and two have been chosen to take part: Theresa Bates, a student at Bristol, who has created a work for the auction, and Hilma Sassa, at LCC, who has made a limited edition print.

If you want to take a look at the artworks in the flesh before you work out how much you can afford to bid, they are all on show at Protein gallery in Shoreditch in London until Sunday. Alongside the chance to see the works – which as a group make a great show of contemporary graphic art, beyond the auction element – there is also a series of limited edition prints by a number of the artists on sale at Protein at the affordable price of £50, with all monies again going to Refuge.
