This year’s CR Photography Annual, in association with Shutterstock, will be published with the November issue of CR on October 31. Last night we celebrated the Best in Book winners, those entries deemed by the judges to be the best of the work selected this year.

Among the images honoured were this stunning shot from Tim Flach‘s More Than Human series, which appears on the cover of the issue

Martin Usbourne‘s The Silence of Dogs in Cars

Thanks to berry place for creating our handsome trophies.

Frank Herholdt’s family portrait, The Baths is also a Best in Book winner

As is Paul Zak‘s Guinness campaign

And Nadav Kander’s Titans of the Stage shot for the New York Times Magazine – his portrait of Mark Rylance appears on the Photo Annual side of the November issue

The Best in Book section of the Photography Annual is sponsored by Blurb.

Our thanks to them as well as to Shutterstock and to our other category sponsors, cake-factory (Personal/Non-Published category), Taylor James (Advertising) and bma model management (Editorial).

Thanks also to our judges: Becky Smith, Sarah Kavanagh and Matt Willey and congratulations to everyone whose work was selected.

Creative Review’s November issue, which includes the Photography Annual, also has features on Wieden + Kennedy, M/M (Paris), Kraftwerk, Instagram, Gov.uk and much, much more.

Here are some more spreads from our showcase of great commercial images produced over the last year:
