Beattie vs Beefeater

Dangerous business this advertising. Beattie McGuinness Bungay’s latest campaign for Ikea nearly ended up with an unfortunate creative being locked up in the Tower.
Armed with spoof estate agents’ boards in their client’s distinctive livery, the agency has been declaring various landmark buildings Not For Sale. Buckingham Palace, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, the Gherkin and even the Tower of London were all targeted. The latter, however, proved the most dangerous escapade as, Trevor Beattie tells us, a distinctly unamused Beefeater attempted to apprehend the team when he spotted what they were up to (see above). Cue a sharp exit.
The stunts tie in with a website notgoinganywhere.co.uk and a TV spot airing soon. Ikea is evidently happy with the agency’s efforts as it has invited BMB to pitch for its US business too.
